Screening Group

Ownership of AQS data is assigned to groups of users responsible for the data. These groups are called Screening Groups. When new users are added to the AQS system, part of the application process includes the assignment of the user to one or more Screening Groups. Establishment and assignment of Screening Groups is managed by the AQS administration team with the assistance of the local agencies responsible for colleting/entering the data and the EPA regional offices.

What is it?

A Screening Group is a collection of one or more users who share responsibility for data associated with specific monitors. Monitors are "owned" by a Screening Group. Members of the Screening Group that own a monitor are the only ones that may have the ability to add or modify data for that monitor. The Screening Group must be activated by you in order to access any data for modification or to create new data records.

Activating

Some individuals may be members of more than one Screening Group. When you first log into AQS you are presented with the choice of the Read Only Screening Group (which gives you read access to all public data) or the option to select one of the Screening Group names assigned to you. If, after working for a while you wish to change to a different group, the Sessions menu option at the top of the AQS screen returns you to the selection form. If "Sessions" is not available it can be access from the Main Menu.

Per User vs. Per Screening Group Ownership

Ownership of Monitors and their associated data is established on a per Screening Group basis. This means that all members of a Screening Group have access to raw data associated with the monitor, as well as Precision data, Accuracy data, Blanks data and so on. They also share ownership of the site where the monitor is placed. It is possible for different Screening Groups to own Monitors at a single site. Site data is accessible by any member of any Screening Group that has a monitor placed at the site.

Ownership of Batch load files and reports is controlled on a per user basis. In the Batch form and in the list of reports tab in the Standard Reports form you will only see files and reports transferred or requested by you. Report Criteria Sets created by you are only accessible to others when you set them to PUBLIC access. Files transferred by you using CDX are owned by you and, in Bach Load, can only be loaded by you. HOWEVER, once batch files are loaded, any data that was rejected with errors is owned by the Screening Group. In the middle section of the Batch load form, all the activity of the Screening Group is displayed.

The buttons that act on individually owned files are <CDX> and <Load>

The buttons that act on Screening Group owned data are <Submit Corrected Data>, <StatCR> and <Post>.
