Tribal Code

A Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) code that identifies one of the tribal areas. Used for Sites and Monitors owned or managed by Tribal Agencies that are within tribal boundaries. This is a separate data field, though in batch load it is used in conjunction with a "TT" Tribal Indicator value and OVERLAYS a County Code in batch load formats.

The Tribal Code field is optional and only appears when the Tribal Mode is ON. Tribal Mode can be turned on and off temporarily from the Action pulldown menu in the application. It can be turned on as a default when AQS is started by setting the Tribal User check box in the Admin>Security form.

In forms and reports the tribal code can be used to call up or define sites, monitors and their associated data.

When defining tribal Sites, State and County fields are not required, they are automatically determined by the AQS system based on the Latitude and Longitude supplied. Existing sites will display all fields when the site data is loaded in the form.

Because tribal areas may cross county and state lines, care must be taken to ensure that a site ID is unique not only for the tribal area but also unique for all the counties that cross or are contained within a Tribal Area.
