A "Protocol" is a combination of Method, Unit and Duration associated with a pollutant and can include Collection Frequency and Comp Type. Allowed Protocols for different Parameters are defined by OAQPS and can be viewed using Retrieval>Browse Sample Methodology. This browse form can be used to discover appropriate protocols for specific monitoring equipment. Improving technology (such as finer MDLs) will often require the creation of new Method codes and associated Protocols. These new methods and protocols must be requested through your EPA OAQPS contact.
