Pollutant Area Code

Description

Designation of a pollutant area to which the monitor is assigned. Pollutant areas are geographic areas defined by a program office in which a certain pollutant should be closely watched. Most are problem or non-attainment areas, but attainment areas requiring special attention may also be defined. Types of pollutant areas are: status areas, monitoring areas, and monitor planning areas.

Business Rules

The transaction and application formats allow for the designation of up to five pollutant areas. In the transaction, assignments should be made in sequence, i.e., do not use position 25, if you have not yet used position 24.

Only one Pollutant Area Code for each pollutant area type may be assigned to a single monitor. (It is valid to assign one monitoring area and one status area; it is not valid to assign two monitoring areas.)

Must be a valid AQS Pollutant Area Code and its pollutant area type must be valid for the indicated parameter.
