Method Code

Description

A three-digit code representing the measurement method. A method code is only unique within a parameter (that is, method 132 for ozone is not the same as method 123 for benzene). The encoding contains both the sample collection and sample analysis descriptions.

Business Rules

Required for submission of Sample Values on the RD transaction.

Must exist, in combination with submitted parameter code, on the Sampling Methodologies table.

Must exist on the Protocols table in combination with: parameter code, sample duration code, unit code, and collection frequency code.

Must be associated with the monitor on the Monitor Methods (MM) transaction before data can be submitted using the Method Code.

When submitted on the RC transaction: Must have a valid protocol with a duration code of C.
